This piece began as a traditional Gyotaku on rice paper — ink pressed directly onto a barramundi caught in Tiwi Islands waters. Colour was then hand-applied to the original print to draw out warm, golden tones. That coloured original was then reproduced onto satin canvas — making this something between a print and a painting.
